Important details of the Rosca de Reyes

In case, you have always wondered why we cut a Rosca on the 6th of January in Mexico, we have to start by explaining that even though it has lost its religious value with the years, for Mexico and some countries in Latin America, the Rosca de Reyes symbolizes the search of the Wise Men for the Baby Jesus and every detail of the rosca is given with the birth of Jesus on mind. For example, the doll represents the baby Jesus, while the circular shape of the rosca the eternal love of God. In addition, the nuts represent the jewels embedded in the crowns of the Holy Kings.

  7. Place four-five portions of dough to decorate, and let it rest for 15 minutes covered with a semi-wet cloth.
  8. Bake the dough in a preheated oven at 190 oC for 45 minutes or until it takes an even golden color and the piece is well cooked.
  9. Remove from the oven, allowing it to cool and decorate with cherries, powdered sugar or any fruit of your choice and don’t forget to add vanilla strips, so that everyone knows that it is something different, that it has gourmet vanilla from Los Cinco Soles, Cancun, Cozumel and Merida, and enjoy it with a hot chocolate as the tradition says
