BLACK CLAY
ONE OF THE MOST VALUED MEXICAN CERAMIC TECHNIQUES BY ART COLLECTORS WORLDWIDE
The creation of black clay is one of Mexico’s oldest artisan traditions, with Oaxaca as its birthplace. This art, of great cultural importance, is distinguished by its whimsical shapes and delicate patterns, handcrafted by Oaxacan artisans. After molding the pieces, they are left to dry in the sun for four days and then fired in wood-burning kilns, acquiring their characteristic shiny black color.
